Brake and Break

Brake, a noun, is a device used to slow down or halt a moving vehicle.

When the car was going too fast, the driver pressed on the brake to slow the vehicle.

Break means to damage something so that it no longer works.

The mother cautioned her daughter not to break anything in the china shop.
